Christmas & New Years is among us... | MichelleMINUTES 205

Posted December 25, 2010
On the holidays, people typically 'get in the spirit of the holidays'.  Holidays were designed to take special significant.  With the Christmas and the New Year being among us, many people are in the season of good will.  As we are taking sometime to think of giving, looking after mankind, and friends & family, normally at this time we overly invest as if now suddenly we can find time for others in our life.
Is it possible to show goodwill to men (and women) during the entire year?  Is it possible to show love to friends & family and show them how much we care all of the time as we maneuver through our lives?  Is it possible to start the new thing in our lives when they need to be started as oppose to waiting until the official new year?  If it's something that we really need to change, let's change it!

A moment in eternity measures no time | MichelleMINUTES 204

Posted December 24, 2010

A moment in eternity measures no time.  As we scurry about ensuring that everything is taken care of that's on our agenda, time can certainly be swallowed up like that lost single sock in laundry from the dryer.

When taking the time to stop, pause, and breathe, the opportunity for release is available.  To be able to not to stress or fret.  To be able to put it all down.  To be able to gain perspective, is truly an euphoric place.  That place of perfect peace is certainly a place of eternity.  This time of total relaxation assist in healing the body.  By remembering this time and the impact it has made, the clarity is gained.
It's important and vital to make it apart of your daily do.  Taking quiet time is certainly good.  Remember the saying 'Mind of body'?

A minute in eternity measures no time.

Lisa McClendon announces retirement | MichelleMINUTES 197

Posted December 17, 2010

On December 14, Lisa McClendon announced her retirement.  Being naturally gifts in things of the arts, she like many of us became a 'jack of all trades but a master of none'.  She talks about who being busy doesn't equate to being productive and how she had a thought of if she has the ability to do something that she should do it.  So now she retires from doing all that God has told her to back off on.  Read her blog to find out what's next for her?

Narrowing your focus and putting a laser beam on one thing that concentrated focus allows 100% to go towards the effort, making it to yield a better outcome.  It allows the effort to have more potential to be completed in a complete thought - a way to allow it to develop and mature before adding the next mission to the focus.  What are you focusing on?

Bank of America is STILL Hiring | MichelleMINUTES 198

Posted December 15, 2010

As of December 15, Bank of America is still hiring.  Many ask 'how do I apply?' and 'here do I go?'

Going to www.bankofamerica.com at the bottom left-hand corner of the page, there's an option for 'careers'.  Select the country, and you are on your way.  This will provide you with an opportunity to narrow down your choices.

Greensboro is certainly hiring more call center associates - among other positions.  If you are looking to relocate, there are options as well.  Bank of America does an excellent job of laying out the staffing process that you can be aware of what to expect during this process.

To stay aware of different portions of Bank of America hiring other than checking the site, they are also on twitter @BofA_Careers.  As Bank of America is committed to building and maintaining a world-class Careers web site, they welcome your feedback (http://careers.bankofamerica.com/feedback/feedback.asp).

Up Music TV | MichelleMINUTES 196

Posted December 15, 2010

Up Music TV is designed to display an array of music videos to introduce to some different styles of music.  By keeping things mixed up from Sanctus Real and Mary Mary to Bryon Cage and 10th Avenue North, there is certainly no over exposure of any videos or artists as the music is evenly distributed as the videos play in different cities in North Carolina and in other cities/states.

Now don't get them wrong, Up Music TV certainly has a place for the local artists - so you don't have to be big time to get in the rotation.  With the owner's previous video show, there was airtime covering a massive number of states.  So Up Music TV is certainly going places as the value and connections are there.

On every weekday morning from 6 until 8a, Up Music TV can be enjoyed on local tv (NOT CABLE) - The CW WCWG 20 - to assist in starting the day on the good foot.  Take sometime to visit their site, facebook, and twiter to get information on:

  • latest announcements,
  • how to make donations,
  • get your video played, and
  • purchase advertising space for your event or ministry.

Connecting... | MichelleMINUTES 195

Posted December 12, 2010

As we go through life, we have to connect with others.  There are many reasons that people feel they aren't good at connecting with others.  Some are listed here:

  • Feel like there may not be anything in common,
  • Hate starting or mapping through the small talk,
  • Not sure how to get past small talk to real conversation,
  • Not feeling comfortable enough to be themselves,
  • Feelings of insecurity,
  • Both parties not engaging,
  • The potenial fear of rejection, and
  • Due to the technology that is commonly used, it's difficult to do face-to-face and at times even on the phone.

In the mist of this, everyone does communicate through non-verbals and by some of the things that are said mistakenly.  John C. Maxwell even rote a book about 'Everyone Communicates and Few Connect'.  John Maxwell defines connecting as:  The ability to identify & relate to people that it increases your influence with them.

To assist with connecting with others, we have to
remember that:

  • Others come first.
  • Connecting requires energy and effort.
  • Connectors find common ground and lift the other higher.

So if you don't have a problem connecting, then keep that in mind the next time someone tries to connect with you.  Have mercy!

How to accept change... | MichelleMINUTES 193

Posted December 8, 2010

After knowing a certain gentleman as a leader in the community for over 8 years, it was time for his yearly eye exam.  At this time of being over 50, the doctor informed him that it was time to start wearing glasses - not reading glasses but real every day all of the time glasses.  I saw this young man quickly fill his prescription and keep it moving.  Watching him over the next few weeks oddly enough, I was surprised at how quickly he accepted this new change/challenge in his life.  What was learned?

When things happen in our lives (despite the age) that we have to accept, there is no need in fighting it or rejecting it.  The faster that it's accepted and embraced, then the faster life and purpose can move on.  On our journey through life, small things come up that can get us off track or even delay the process.  It's important to remember the overall goal - the destination and NOT allow the small change in life to thwart or delay it.  Identify, embrace, and move on!

Why go to church? || MichelleMINUTES 179

Posted December 8, 2010

People may wonder from time to time what's the point in going to church and why to go.  Where are a few reasons on why people go:

  • Use of Spiritual Gifts:  We all have spiritual gifts given to us that need developing and sharpening.  The best place to go to take care of this is a place that has a focus on spiritual things - church.  Once at church, there should be references to scriptures that you'll be able can be followed up on later.
  • Mutual Benefit of Unified Body:  There should be a mutual benefit of teaming up with others constantly - a give and take.  Yes, growth should happen on both sides.
  • Accountability:  Being able to select the appropriate leadership to be accountable to, is truly important and beneficial.  This assistance in the  guiding and directing of the path that that is being journeyed.
  • Being Apart:  Churches have many focuses as they desire to connect with others.  With the desire, there is allot of work to do.

There are many churches that are set up that provide these options to people.  One church in Greensboro is New Millennium Christian Center (with Pastor Wayne Robinson) at 424 Fisher Park Circle.  To get additional information, contact by phone at 336.510.0440 or email at info@nmccenter.com.
